A new low, even for Times of India!

I pick up the newspaper and what I see has left me in such a state of anger, shock and irritation that I can think of nothing else until I have put all my feelings down!

Journalism was something I loved and even today I feel it has great scope and opportunity, especially with the advent of technology like never before but sadly everything called "journalism" is nothing but grapevine, publicity stunts, political rubbish and downright 'shitty' nonsense. (Pardon the language!) I stopped watching news channels long back and mostly stick to the internet and a few newspapers and magazines to know what is happening. With the internet, it really becomes easy to filter and read only about stuff one is interested in, even then things that are happening in the country and in the world do need to be known and I do resort to papers for this bit.

I have always been biased againt Times of India and for The Hindu! But today's Times of India has left such a bad taste in the mouth, I don't think I can ever recover! See it for yourself -

Can they be serious about "watching the memorial service of Jacintha Saldanha being advertised on page 1?"

The irony is that Jacintha died because of irresponsible journalism and they are parading her memorial service like it is a show that needs to be watched!  Who would even be interested in this and what do you call this, other than cheap, thoughtless promotion.

India too seriously needs an independent press regulator and pronto! There are no values these days that should generally bind journalism and such pieces are ample example to that.

News channels are not far behind and I think if Iget started on them there is going to be no end.
