Loud whispers

A conditioned environ surrounds me
Air as cold as my skin cares to feel
The road beneath the wheels rolls over
Lost in thoughts I remain unaware
A spark of red flashes in my eye
The jerk springs me forward
A face, soaked in sand stares across
A young boy not more than fifteen
Earns his living carrying concrete
Sports a tee and a smile
The smile fades away
I see a longing in his eyes
He sees the cell phone plugged trendy guy walk along
It is like a mirror
Just that the reflection is years away
For a moment his eyes die
Not having the strength to see beyond
Deceiving the will that is so strong
The stranger brushes past knocking his shoulder
He holds himself, does not move an inch
The fluid called life engulfs him
The flash of light is back in his eyes
I move on
Carrying a dream that was long gone...

Very nicely put, rathi! I always knew you had it in you. ;)
But i wonder at the sensitiveness you exude here, when you have always been impassive towards my gifts! :D
